Welcome to Bowen Suffolk Stud
Bowen Suffolk Stud was established in 1994 at ‘Shearwood’ Millthorpe.
Millthorpe is situated between Bathurst , Blayney and Orange in NSW.
‘Shearwood’ is approximately 1000m above sea level and has an average rainfall of 750mm. The property is rich in red basalt soil.
In 2005/2006 Bowen Suffolk Stud embarked on an AI programme with semen from Scottish Ram – Meikleson Mighty Man.
This programme produced four outstanding Rams; Gordon, Harry ,The Man & Mighty Boy . The latter being sold as a ram lamb to Broughton Lodge for $5,500.00.
The introduction of this line of genetics has significantly improved the muscling, hindquarters and bone of Bowen Suffolk Stud prodigy.
Genetics used in 2011 include Letts – Hercules, a high index Ram from South Australia and in 2012 the introduction of Pamellen – Vulcan, a further high index Ram from Western Australia and Telpara- 75 , a long correct Ram from South Australia.
In 2013 we purchased Pamellen – Highway (sired by Freeway), Ranked third on Lambplan (February 2013 carcase plus figures of 180).
