
Bowen Suffolk Stud was established by Greg Good outside Orange NSW in 1994 with ewes from -
In 1996 Bowen Stud moved to Millthorpe NSW. Millthorpe is situated between Blayney, Bathurst and Orange. It is approximately 1000m above sea level, is rich in red basalt soil, and has an annual rainfall of approximately 750mm.
To increase stock numbers, 10 ewes were purchased – five in lamb from ‘Othello Park’ and five from ‘Allendale’.
In a successful attempt to significantly increase eye muscle and hindquarters of the flock, two ‘Allendale’ Rams – one leased from F1991 – were introduced.
From 2000 the following Rams were infused into the flock:
with 10 ewes from Marananga and 7 ewes from Elvamore.
In 2005 Bowen Stud met the challenge of Artificial Insemination (A.I ) when it purchased imported semen from the U.K. – Meikleson 'Mighty Man’. This resulted in exceptional growth, increased length, hindquarters and eye muscle with reduced fat.
In November 2005, Bowen Stud purchased the complete dispersal of the ‘Eurongilly Stud’ with ewes based on Elvamore, Sonning, Mountronan and Punchbowl bloodlines.
In 2006 Bowen Stud has been productively joining with progeny from Meikleson ‘Mighty Man’ and Pine Ridge 120-01.
Also using Letts 3337-03 from F2069 and artifically inseminated with Coleford 429-00 (New Zealand)and Meikleson ‘Mighty Man’.
In 2007 Bowen Stud implemented embryo transfer using Meikleson ‘Mighty Man’.
In 2008, A.I with semen from Uncle Sam, Letts Carl and Letts X Bowen Harry and Bowen Sires - Co-Pilot, Bart, Gordon and The Man.
